LIVING AN "ART-FILLED LIFE"
Born and raised in Pembroke, Georgia, I am once again residing at my ancestoral home place, SAVAGE CREEK FARMS, a registered Georgia Centennial Family Farm.
After living and traveling around the United States and other countries, I am planted again, and enjoying a quiet rural life style. The old tobacco barn serves a new purpose now - it has been renovated and serves as my art studio. Art has always been a part of my life. My love of nature and traveling has me always observing and learning.
Although I have an art degree, I consider myself basically self-taught. I enjoy painting with other artists for inspiration and I especially enjoy participating in workshops with master artists for new vision and ideas. I choose subjects that have meaning to me. Whether it's an animal portrait, the local landscape or flowers from my garden, I find inspiration from the connection I feel with a painting.
I consider myself a colorist and a contemporary realist - painting in a realistic style that captures detail as well as form and color without striving for photo realism.
When I'm not painting, I am thinking about painting and the process - taking photographs, working on compositions and experimenting with colors.
My intent with each painting is to reveal the power and presence of a subject, and a "spirit" in a place or person.
My next exhibit will be during the month of September 2009, at the Jewish Educational Alliance in Savannah, Georgia.
